No, I’m not referring to the Drama – Party of Five. I’m referring to the mini birthday party for my best friend who will turn 19 tomorrow. The clique of 5 gathered together today to celebrate this special day of hers and of course, I brought a cake along.
I settled on the gorgeous Devil’s Food White Out Cake (Dorie Greenspan’s Baking: From My Home to Yours page 247). Thanks to my poor frosting skill, my cake did not turn out as great as Dorie’s. Guess I need a few more practice with frosting.

Anyway, the party was filled with lots of laughters as we reminisce about the carefree secondary school times. Even though we may be leading different sets of lives now, our friendship remains strong and I’m sure this will not be the last birthday cake I’ll bake for the clique.

Poor frosting skills? I think the cake turned out beautiful! I saw the first pic, and immediately recognised it as Dorie’s. Great job, Bernice. Missed your entries

Hi Maya,
thanks for the compliment! The cake was very chocolatey. Because I had it when it was cold, it was quite dense and fudgey.
Cheers,
